Walk-Through

The hashes can be cracked using hashcat with a list of Law and Order: SVU episodes. The hashes can be cracked by making a list of all the words that appear in the episode titles and appending 2 digits to the end of the word.

Solution

hashcat hash.txt -m 0 -a 6 hash.txt svu.txt ?d?d

hash.txt : the file location + file name that has the hashes hashcat will try to crack

-m 0 : uses hash-mode 0 — indicates the hashes are MD5 hashes

-a 6 : indicates a hybrid attack (wordlist and mask attack)

svu.txt : the file location +name of the wordlist

?d?d : indicates that hashcat should attempt passwords with a different digit in the place of each ?d. This would mean that hashcat will add two digits to the end of each password.
